Elizabeth Slattery (Consultant)

Elizabeth is a solicitor who joined Corbett & Co in 2006 as a consultant. She has considerable experience in statutory adjudications arising from contracts under the HGCRA 1996 and was involved in some of the earliest and most significant High Court judgements on the enforcement of adjudications. After obtaining an LLB (Honours) in Law at Kings College, University of London, Elizabeth completed her training at Beale & Company and continued her career there for several years, becoming a Partner in 1992. While there she acted on behalf of construction professionals and their insurers. She then joined the legal group at Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd in 1995 and was responsible for the establishment of an in-house dispute resolution service for the company where her work predominantly involved disputes arising under the ICE 5th and 6th contracts and the NEC, as well as assistance to the in-house team drafting and negotiating contracts for the company. Elizabeth joined construction specialist Shadbolt & Co in 1999, becoming an Associate in 2006. While there she acted on behalf of clients in the UK, Europe and East Africa in domestic High Court litigation and UK and International arbitrations involving the ICE, JCT and FIDIC forms of contract. She is a member of the Society of Construction Law and since 2010 has been a member of the editorial panel of the IBA publication Construction Law International (‘CLInt’) for whom she regularly contributes articles and case updates.
