Andrew Tweeddale (Director)

Andrew joined Corbett & Co in 2005 as a solicitor. He is one of the foremost arbitration and ADR specialists and his practice focuses on construction dispute resolution both domestically and internationally.

Andrew qualified with an LLB honours degree in law from Reading University before being called to the bar in 1992. He practised as a barrister for a short while in London before joining Corbett & Co in 1995 as a solicitor. In 1999 he moved to Norton Rose before returning to Corbett & Co in 2005.

He has an MSc in Construction and Property Law, receiving a distinction, and was awarded the Titmus, Seiner, Dechert prize for excellence. He has Diplomas in international commercial arbitration and domestic arbitration. He is a Chartered Arbitrator and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and has conducted advocacy both in arbitration and DAB proceedings. He has experience in FIDIC, ICE, JCT, NEC and bespoke forms of construction contract.

He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, International Bar Association (IBA), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Society of Construction Law (SCL), and the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

Andrew is the author of A Practical Approach to Arbitration Law and Arbitration of Commercial Disputes – International and English Law and Practice. He has lectured on construction law at South Bank University and written numerous articles on arbitration, adjudication and other forms of ADR.  Recently Andrew contributed a chapter entitled “Shifting the Burden of Proof: Revisiting Adjudication Decisions” to the CIArb liber amicorum published in celebration of its centenary.

In Legal 500 2016 Andrew was noted for his ‘exceptional written work and advocacy skills’.
